Trained as an attorney in Nairobi and Washington, D.C, USA, he holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in International Legal Studies from American University, Washington College of Law, Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Kenya School of Law.
His exemplary human rights and governance work earned him the prestigious Hubert Humphrey Fellowship in International Justice, Democracy and the Rule of Law.

In 2007 he crossed into public service on his election as Member of Parliament, where he thrived as a young, dynamic, fearless and erudite leader, rising to co-chair the Parliamentary Select Committee on Constitution Review, a pivotal role that helped shape Kenya’s historic 2010 Constitution

He was appointed as the Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports in Kenya from 2012 to 2017, during which he served diligently, contributing to the establishment of the Sports Act of 2013, among other key initiatives.

He served as the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, playing a crucial role in diplomatic engagements and international relations.

He served as the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports, and the Creative Economy, overseeing key policies and initiatives aimed at empowering youth, developing sports, and fostering growth in the creative industry.
- 2024 Ambassador to UNON and UNEP, and Special Envoy for the African Union Audio Visual Cinema Commission
He became Kenya’s Ambassador to UNON and UNEP, and Special Envoy for the African Union Audio Visual Cinema Commission (AACC).

Since 2024, he has served as the President of the Africa-China Legal Alliance, fostering legal cooperation and strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Africa and China.
